Sara Becker (she/her)
Sara is the founder and director of Wildwood. She has been working with children for 20 years. Her studies were focused on Early Childhood Education, and her work has had her in classrooms, educational and enrichment programs, and employed by private families. Over the years, she has watched many of her brightest children struggle in a traditional classroom. When her own child had the same experience with the traditional classroom, Sara found a farm and forest preschool where her child thrived. When her child aged out of that program, Wildwood was born.
Emily (she/her)
Emily is our amazing lead preschool teacher. She has always known her heart was in education. She began her studies in high school, receiving honors and awards that carried her through college in Vermont, where she developed a love for nature-based education. Emily has years of experience with a range of ages and environments. She is often found snuggling a child, weaving crowns and baskets, or frolicking through the forest with the entire class of children skipping behind her. She is pure joy, and every child loves her.
Ashley (she/they)
Ash is the centering force and guiding light of our school age group. The children all feel grounded by her presence and inspired by her ideas. Ash is led by the interests of the children and works endlessly to bring creative and new ideas to the group each day. Social and emotional growth in our school-age group is incredibly important, and Ash has proven to be a trusted guide to many of our school-age kiddos. Ashley studied early education and psychology in Maine and later nature-based education at Antioch. We are so lucky to have them at Wildwood.
Olivia (she/her)
Liv joined us in 2021 as an assistant teacher and quickly outdid herself. During a year of covid teacher shortages, Liv stepped in and completely filled the void. Before the end of the year, she was fully in the role of co-teacher of the preschool. The children adore her. They are often found snuggled in her arms or laughing with her on a blanket under a tree. Liv is now in year 3 with us in our preschool.
Julia
Julia has always loved being outdoors and working with children. She began her studies in psychology and child development, and found her place at a nature preschool in 2021. She developed a passion in child development from a nature & play-based perspective. Julia began at Wildwood in 2023 and loved getting to connect with the kids through creative play, reading stories, and exploring the wonders of the outdoors alongside curious young minds! Julia hopes to provide a calming and comforting presence for children to feel safe to explore and discover their interests and identities.
